God's Mercy and Grace (26 July 2015)

After God had spoken the Ten Commandments from the cloud upon Mt. Sinai, Moses pleaded with God to establish His covenant with Israel and make them His people (Exod 33). God commanded Moses to cut two tablets and to return to the mountain top. Yahweh descended on the mountain and proclaimed His name. Throughout Israel's rebellions, God demonstrated His divine nature in His grace and mercy toward Israel. Two other prophets quote from Exodus 34:6 and demonstrate the need for humanity to truly repent. This lesson stresses the believer's need to turn to God's divine nature for mercy and forgiveness.

The Meaning of Existence (26 July 2015)

If there is no God, what difference does it make that the universe ever existed? What is the significance of life? Without God, the human race would one day become extinct. Without God, the universe would eventually die. Without God, all the stars would eventually burn out and the galaxies will expand into an endless cold darkness forever. If there is no God, then there is no ultimate purpose or meaning to life. However, the meaning of everything is God's demonstration of His grace through Jesus Christ to those whom God chose before the foundation of the world (Eph 1:3-10). This is the fullness of time.

The Measure of Morality (19 July 2015)

If there is no God, then there are no objective moral values. Some prominent atheists have agreed that morality is subjective and that there is no right or wrong. Secular morality implies that a person may develop one's own morality rejecting atrocities, and yet allow the right for another person or society to form their own morality that accepts atrocities. "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil," (Isa 5:20a). Jesus declared, "No one is good except God alone" (Mark 10:18). Morality is neither greater than God or subject to His invention. God is good. He is virtue. He is love (1 John 4:8, 16). God is the foundation of morality. "For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God," Jesus taught (Luke 16:18).
